WHO WE ARE
We are artists, thinkers, healers, and disruptors. We hold spaces for joy, care, and transformation, spaces that honour heritage, challenge systems, and celebrate the messy brilliance of being human. Founded by Nzinga and Maren, HOPEFUL MESS is rooted in the belief that change isn’t clean. It’s loud, emotional, and deeply communal. We work to connect people and spread joy across borders and across disciplines.

We are female led, anti-racist, and radically hopeful. We don’t wear suits (unless it’s a theme). We hold space for reflection, resistance and rest. We leave legacies, not just on paper, but through relationships, rituals and community.

OUR VALUES
-
Joy as Resistance: We celebrate, even when the world says not to.
-
Community First: We are led by the people. Always.
-
Decolonial Practice: We honour indigenous and community knowledge.
-
Transparency & Impact: We show our work. We share our process.
-
Global Kinship: We connect people beyond borders.
OUR 'MESS AS METHOD' APPROACH
Mess as Method refers to our research and creative practice that embraces and reflects the non-linear and messy realities of the world. We don't intend to impose order and clarity through traditional "clean" methods, we invite chaos, complexity and contradiction and believe multiple truths can be held.
